The car cover was not always known as a car cover. It was first referred to as a dust cover. The name was derived from the covers first known function, to protect a car’s paint from dust and dirt.

The first dust covers were invented in and around the beginning of the twentieth century. These car covers were made to protect the brand new paint jobs on the newly made Oldsmobile cars. The covers were constructed out of a burlap material, and they ended up actually doing more harm than good. The burlap scratched the car’s paint, and that is when the cover’s inventors began to search for another type of material to use.

Today, car covers are used by people around the world. They are used indoors and out. These car covers are usually made from soft materials, but sometimes they are made from two layers of materials. A two layered car cover usually consists of cotton or fleece and a heavier waterproof material. For the covers that are made from one type of material the materials is usually cotton, fleece, or brushed cotton.

Car covers can be cheap or expensive. The price of the car cover depends on the type of material that the car cover is made out of. It also depends on if the car cover is custom made or not custom made. Prices can range into the hundreds of dollars for a nice car cover.

The best car covers are often found in specialty stores. These stores are located on the Internet and in local areas. Such specialty stores often carry car parts and car accessories and they may specifically exist for one type or brand of car.

Instead of purchasing a cover at a store, some car owners opt to have a custom car cover made for their vehicle. Custom covers can be expensive, but they are sure to fit the car’s body nicely.

Regardless of where a car cover is purchased, there are usually two basic choices that a customer has. The first choice is an indoor car cover. This cover will not protect against water, or other elements. The second choice that a customer has in a car cover is an outdoor car cover. Outdoor covers are usually waterproof and they will adequately protect a car against water, wind, and other environmental factors.

Covers are not just made for cars. Covers are also made for alternate forms of transportation. There are covers for motorcycles, scooters, trucks, sport utility vehicles, and even bicycles. All of which are made to fit particular body styles and brands.
